FFO, Core FFO and AFFO for the year ended December 31, 2021 include income from a lease termination fee of $8.7 million, whic h i s recorded in Revenue from tenants in the consolidated statements of operations. The termination fee of approximately $9.0 mi lli on was paid by the tenant at the end of the lease term on January 4, 2022, was earned and recorded as income evenly over the period fro m September 3, 2021 through January 4, 2022. 2. Represents amounts related to deferred rent pursuant to lease negotiations which qualify for FASB relief for which rent was d efe rred but not reduced. These amounts are included in the straight - line rent receivable on our balance sheet but are considered to be earned revenue attributed to the current period for rent that was deferred, for purposes of AFFO, as they are expected to be collect ed. Accordingly, when the deferred amounts are collected, the amounts reduce AFFO. 3. For AFFO purposes, we adjust for unrealized gains and losses. For the year ended December 31, 2022, the gain on derivative in str uments was $18.6 million which consisted of unrealized gains of $9.4 million and realized gains of $9.2 million. For the year en ded December 31, 2021, the gain on derivative instruments was $5.8 million which consisted of unrealized gains of $6.3 million and realize d l osses of $0.5 million. For the year ended December 31, 2020, the loss on derivative instruments was $2.3 million which consis ted of unrealized losses of $6.8 million and realized gains of $4.5 million. 4. Amount represents a receivable recorded for financing costs we incurred in connection with the mortgage loan that financed th e a cquisition of the global headquarters of the McLaren Group that the McLaren Group is required to reimburse. For accounting pu rpo ses, the receivable for these reimbursable costs is included in prepaid expenses and other assets on the consolidated balance sheet an d i n revenue from tenants in the consolidated statements of operations since the receivable is considered to be earned revenue a ttr ibuted to the current year - to - date period. 5. Amount relates to costs incurred for the 2023 proxy that were specially related to our 2023 proxy contest and related litigat ion . We do not consider these expenses to be part of our normal operating performance and have, accordingly, increased AFFO for thi s amount.
