NOTICE TO THE MARKET

São Paulo, March 24, 2022 - Braskem S.A. (“Braskem” or “Company”) (B3: BRKM3, BRKM5 and BRKM6) hereby informs the market and its shareholders that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Sojitz Corporation, a distributor of chemicals and polymers with a strong footprint in Asia, to set up a joint venture (“Joint Venture”) for producing and selling bio-MEG (monoethylene glycol) and bio-MPG (monopropylene glycol), subject to approval from the relevant antitrust authorities. Moreover, the business plan of the Joint Venture entails investments for the construction of three industrial plants in the first phase, conditioned on the conclusion of technology development.

Note that the technology to develop by the Joint Venture will count on the support and expertise of Haldor Topsoe, a Danish company that has put into production since 2019, a demonstration unit to validate the main phases in the pioneering technology that transforms renewable raw materials such as dextrose* or sucrose* into bio-MEG. Also note that, in 2020 we announced the initial production of renewable MEG on a demonstration scale.

This partnership with Sojitz is aligned with the following objectives of Braskem: (i) carbon neutrality by 2050; (ii) geographic and industrial diversification; (iii) consolidation of global leadership in biopolymers to meet clients’ needs; and (iv) development of sustainable solutions in the circular economy.

*intermediate liquid obtained while transforming corn or sugarcane into sugar.
