APPOINTMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO THE BOARD
In compliance with paragraphs 3.59 and 6.39 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements and Debt
Listings Requirements respectively, shareholders and noteholders are advised of the following
changes to the Company’s board of directors (“Board”).
The Board is pleased to announce that Ms Bridget van Kralingen has been appointed as an
independent non-executive director of the Company, with effect from 7 April 2022.
The Board confirms that the appointment of Ms van Kralingen was made pursuant to its Nominations
of Directors Policy.
Ms van Kralingen recently retired from IBM Corporation, New York (IBM) where she was the Senior
Vice President of global markets, accountable for IBM’s revenue, profit and operations in all 172
countries in which it operates. Prior to that she served as Chief Executive of both IBM’s industry
platforms, software and blockchain businesses and its global consulting business. She is a director of
The Travelers Company Inc and in 2011 she was appointed as a director of the Royal Bank of
Canada.
Ms van Kralingen is a qualified Industrial Psychologist and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree
(BCom) from the University of Witwatersrand, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree (BCom
Honours) from the University of Johannesburg and a Masters in Commerce and Psychology degree
(MCom) from the University of South Africa.
Given Discovery’s global expansion, Ms van Kralingen will be valuable to the Discovery Board as she
brings a wealth of global business experience together with technology and artificial intelligence
expertise.
