NEDBANK GROUP AND NEDBANK – CHANGE TO THE BOARDS TO TAKE PLACE IN 2023
Shareholders are advised that Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala will step down as an independent non-executive
director of Nedbank Group and Nedbank in 2023 (and therefore as a member of the Group IT
Committee, Group Climate Resilience Committee, and Group Transformation, Social and Ethics
Committee).
Tshilidzi, who is the Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg and Deputy Chair
of the Presidential Commission on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, was recently appointed by the
United Nations as the next Rector of the United Nations University headquartered in Tokyo.
Mpho Makwana, Chairperson of both the Nedbank Group and the Nedbank boards of directors (the
Boards), noted that while Prof. Marwala’s resignation was being accepted with regret, the Boards were
exceptionally proud of his well-deserved appointment as Rector of the UN University.
Shareholders will be advised once the date of his resignation in 2023 has been finalised.
