UPDATED TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, a listed company is required to publish a trading statement as soon
as it is satisfied that a reasonable degree of certainty exists that the financial results for the period to be reported on
next will differ by at least 20% from the financial results for the previous corresponding period.
Further to the trading statement and announcement regarding the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (“HPAI”) outbreak
published on SENS on Friday, 22 September 2023, shareholders of Quantum Foods are hereby advised that for the
financial year ended 30 September 2023 (“Current Reporting Period”) a reasonable degree of certainty exists that:
• headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) of the Company is expected to decrease from 14.1 cents per share reported
for the financial year ended 30 September 2022 (“Previous Corresponding Period”), to a loss per share of
between 16.7 cents and 18.1 cents; and
• earnings per share (“EPS”) of the Company is expected to decrease from 12.0 cents per share reported for the
Previous Corresponding Period, to a loss per share of between 17.2 cents and 18.4 cents.
The HEPS and EPS for the Current Reporting Period include a loss of R155.3 million, being the value of biological
assets written off due to HPAI outbreaks. This loss affected both HEPS and EPS by 56.8 cents.
