NOTIFICATION IN TERMS OF SECTION 122(3) OF THE COMPANIES ACT

In accordance with section 122(3)(b) of the Companies Act, No. 71 of 2008 (the “Act”) and paragraph
3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders are hereby advised that the Company
has received formal notification that clients of JP Morgan Chase & Co. (“JP Morgan”) have acquired,
in aggregate, an interest in the ordinary shares of the Company, such that the total interest in the
ordinary shares of the Company held by JP Morgan’s clients amounted to 5.47% of the total issued
ordinary shares of the Company on the date of notification.

The requisite notice in terms of section 122(3)(a) of the Act has been filed with the Takeover
Regulation Panel.

WHL confirms that the information contained in this announcement accurately reflects the
information contained in the TRP 121.1 form received by WHL from JP Morgan.
