Conduit Capital Limited (JSE:CND) is an investment holding company that invests primarily in insurance assets for the long term.
The Group operates on a decentralised basis where subsidiaries have the autonomy to conduct their own business affairs within a framework determined at Group level. Subsidiaries are responsible for implementing their own strategies that collectively contribute to value creation for the Group. The value and performance of the underlying investments, rather than the operational activities at holding company level, will essentially determine the value created for shareholders.
The Group is divided into two segments:
Insurance
The Insurance segment owns 100% of the share capital of Constantia Insurance Group, a diversified insurance business which operates as an insurer in the South African long- and short-term insurance industries. This segment includes three insurance licences and all Insurance-related investments.
Investments
This segment houses the Group’s non-insurance investment activities, which comprises two distinct parts: 1. Public equity investments 2. Private investments. It is designed to support the capital base of the insurance group.
This segment is focused on strategic investment and capital allocation, as well as the provision of support to subsidiary companies, where necessary. The Group employs a Value-focused investment philosophy driven by extensive fundamental research.
Investments currently held include Finbond (JSE:FGL), Trustco (JSE:TTO), Taste Holdings and Calgro M3 Group (JSE:CGR).
