Investec plc (JSE:INP) is part of Investec group, an international specialist banking group offering innovative and specialised services to select clients internationally in four key areas: investment banking, treasury and finance, asset management and private client activities. Investec provides a diverse range of financial products and services to a select client base in three principal markets, the UK and Europe, South Africa and Asia/Australia, as well as certain other countries.
Investec operates as a Dual Listed Company comprised of Investec plc and Investec Limited (JSE:INL). Shares of both companies are also listed on the London Stock Exchange. Each share in Investec plc and Investec Limited has equivalent economic and voting rights in the combined Investec group.
Investec was founded in South Africa in 1974 and entered the UK in 1992. In 2002, the group implemented the dual listed company structure and in 2020, the Asset Management business was demerged and separately listed as Ninety One (JSE:N91)
Today Investec employs more than 8,700 people worldwide.
